Just crossed 50 nights in hostels this year and my wallet is confused
I was checking my booking history last night for a trip next month and noticed I've hit 50 nights in hostels since January. That's 50 nights under $40 each, mostly in places like Lisbon, Budapest, and Mexico City. I figured I'd be broke by now but somehow I've saved enough to plan another two weeks in Colombia. Has anyone else hit a random milestone like this and realized they're actually spending less than they thought they would?

Yeah I was actually just reading about how hostel prices have been creeping up this year but its still way cheaper than hotels obviously. I saw this one article that said the average hostel bed in Europe is still under $35 a night if you book ahead and don't go during peak season. But 50 nights though, thats wild. You must have some serious packing skills by now, I can barely handle a week out of a backpack. I'd be curious what your average cost per night actually shakes out to after factoring in the cheap street food and free walking tours you probably hit up.

Honestly @alicesingh, street food and free tours are the real hack to keeping hostel life way under budget.
