Just realized my 'free' walking tour in Prague turned into a 4-hour guilt trip because I didn't know the expected tip amount was $15 per person.

I mean, is it still a budget hack if the hidden social pressure costs more than just booking a proper tour, or is the awkwardness worth the potential savings if you just walk away?

Oh man, I feel this in my soul. My last "free" tour ended with me doing the awkward pocket-pat like I forgot my wallet, just to escape the guide's sad eyes. The savings vanish when you're calculating if you can ever show your face in that city square again. Honestly, I'd rather just know the price up front and save my social energy for trying to order food I can't pronounce.

Wait, $15 a person after a guilt trip, did @park.abby's guide follow them home too?

Man, that pocket-pat move is a classic. Reminds me of a time in Rome where a guy gave us a whole history lesson by the fountain, then just stood there smiling until we coughed up cash. Felt like paying for a friend you just made, but way more awkward. It totally ruins the vibe when you realize the whole nice chat was just the sales pitch. These days I just walk fast and avoid eye contact if I see someone with a clipboard.
