My hostel in Bangkok gave me a free breakfast ticket, but the line was always crazy long.

I got there at 7 AM on my second day and the queue was already out the door. Instead of waiting, I walked two blocks to a street vendor and got a full meal of rice and pork for about 50 cents. It was faster, cheaper, and way more authentic. Anyone know other cities where skipping the included hotel food is actually the better move?

Did that in Hanoi, found amazing pho for a dollar down the street.

Remember that friend who swore he'd only eat at fancy spots in Hanoi? He got lost down some tiny alley, his phone died, and he was starving. Ended up at this plastic stool place where the broth was so good he went back three days in a row. The old lady running it just laughed at him every time. Makes you wonder if the best meals always find you when you're not looking, right?

Found a place in Saigon with even better pho for seventy-five cents.
