My mom said my $5 envelope system was stupid, so I tracked every penny for 30 days
I used to just eyeball my budget and hope for the best, but my mom laughed at my cash envelopes and called them childish. So I tried a simple spreadsheet for one month and found I was wasting $87 on gas station snacks alone. Now I split my fun money into two envelopes each Friday and I have $200 saved for a trip to Cleveland in June. Has anyone else had a family member shoot down their budgeting method, and did you stick with it or switch?
