Am I the only one who thinks a bullet journal doesn't need to be a work of art?

I was at a cafe meetup in Portland last month and felt totally out of place because my pages are just rapid logging with a blue pen, while everyone else was showing off their washi tape and watercolor weekly spreads.

Oh my gosh, totally! I tried the fancy style once and it just stressed me out. My plain notebook with checkboxes works way better for actually getting things done.

Right? My bullet journal is just a messy notebook with lists. The whole point is to get things out of your head, not make a new art project.

Remember my friend who tried to make those perfect spreads? She spent hours on a weekly layout, got behind on Monday, and then felt so bad she quit the whole journal. Now she just uses a cheap notepad and scribbles in pencil.
