Picked a "my kid is an honor roll student" sticker over a snarky one and it backfired hard

I got a new truck last month and decided to put a bumper sticker on it for the first time. I was stuck between one that said "my other car is a pair of boots" and a simple "proud parent" one my wife wanted. I went with the parent one because she begged me, figuring it was harmless. Big mistake. Now every time I stop at a truck stop in Oklahoma, some stranger walks up and asks me detailed questions about my kid's math scores. I don't even have a kid, the sticker was a hand-me-down from my brother. Had to peel it off in a Love's parking lot after the third weird conversation. Anyone else ever put a sticker that attracted the wrong kind of attention?

Sounds like you should've stuck with the boots sticker and avoided the whole mess.

Is it really that simple though? That sticker was hiding a lot of other problems that were only going to get worse. Sometimes you gotta rip the bandaid off and deal with the whole mess now rather than later. Sticking with the boots would have just delayed the headache, not fixed it.
