Pro tip: I counted the stickers on 40 cars in a Kroger lot in Dayton and 17 had something on the back glass too
I had 20 minutes to kill outside a Kroger in Dayton last Saturday while my wife grabbed stuff for a cookout, so I started counting bumper stickers on the cars around me. Out of 40 cars, 31 had at least one sticker on the bumper, but here is the part that got me: 17 of them had something extra stuck on the back glass or the side window, usually a smaller one. The little ones up top were almost always the personal stuff, like a kid's team or a dog breed, and the bumper ones were the opinions. There was a minivan with a stick family on the back glass and a big sticker on the bumper about being a grandparent, and honestly that combo made me smile. It got me wondering if people treat the two spots as different levels of sharing, like the window is for friends and the bumper is for strangers at red lights. I ended up going down the row taking pictures instead of going inside, and my wife came out with two bags and found me crouched behind a Corolla. Do you all put the soft personal stuff up top and the loud stuff on the bumper, or is it all just wherever it fits?
40 cars in a Kroger lot and you turned it into a science fair project. Crouched behind a Corolla is the best part. That poor woman just wanted her hot dog buns and instead she got a guy doing field work on a minivan. The window versus bumper thing is real though. The soft stuff up top where your friends see it, the loud opinions down low for red lights. My neighbor has a paw print on her back glass and a sticker about her dog being smarter than my kid on the bumper.
17 out of 40 with something on the glass is a bigger number than I would have guessed, but the minivan with the stick family plus the grandparent sticker on the bumper is the real find here. That person is running a whole two story system on one vehicle. I do the same thing but I never thought about it until now, the window stuff is for people who know me and the bumper is for whoever pulls up behind me at a light. My wife has a little paw print decal on her back glass and a big obnoxious sticker on the bumper about her book club, so I guess we are part of your data set. Crouched behind a Corolla with a phone out in a Kroger lot is a bold move though, I am surprised nobody called the cops on you. Next time just tell her you were doing important research and see if that buys you a pass.
