Warning: Stop letting your ISP sell you a dedicated line when your whole shop runs on wifi
Honestly I keep seeing small business owners in my area get talked into paying for a dedicated fiber line when their problem was never speed. My buddy runs a print shop here in Dayton and he was about to sign a 3 year deal at $400 a month because his card reader kept dropping during lunch rush. I went over there and the real issue was his router was sitting behind a metal filing cabinet in the back office. We moved it 15 feet to the front counter, added a $60 mesh node by the register, and he has not dropped a single transaction in 4 months. The rep who sold him that line never once asked where the router sits or how many devices hit it at once. Most shops under 10 employees do not need a dedicated circuit, they need someone to actually look at where the signal goes. Ngl it bugs me that sales guys pitch bandwidth like it fixes everything when half the time it is placement and interference. Has anyone else had an ISP push a contract on them before checking the actual setup?
