Bought a $300 slicing machine, went back to my $40 knife in 2 weeks

I figured a electric slicer would save me time on briskets and pork shoulders. It was loud, a pain to clean, and the slices were uneven compared to just using my old carbon steel knife. Anyone else drop money on a gadget and find the basic tool was better the whole time?

Same thing happened with my espresso machine, dropped $400 on it and the $20 french press makes better coffee every single time. These gadgets just add more steps and more stuff to wash.
