Hit 10,000 miles on my bike this year and it was pure accident
I clipped a cheap bike computer to my handlebars back in March just to see how far I was riding. I don't train or follow a plan. I just pedal to work and back and run errands around town. Last weekend I glanced at the odometer and it said 10,042 miles. I had to double check because I didn't think I rode that much. That's like riding from New York to Los Angeles and then some. All on a beat up 2018 Fuji with mismatched tires and a seat I grabbed from a junk bin. Has anyone else accidentally hit a big number on something they barely track?

Those 10,000 miles on a 2018 Fuji with a junk bin seat are honestly more telling than any fancy training log. The daily grind of just riding your bike is its own kind of workout, even if it doesn't look like one on paper. I'm just not convinced most people would magically hit the same numbers without some kind of structure, though.

Kinda makes you wonder how much we overthink the whole training thing, right? Your mileage may vary but I bet half the people obsessing over zones and intervals would get similar results just by riding their bike every day.
