I thought the $12 knockoff headlamp from a bin at the hardware store was junk, but it outlasted my $60 name brand one
Last spring I grabbed a cheap headlamp out of the clearance bin at a store in Dayton just to have a spare in my truck, and I honestly expected it to die within a month. It has been going strong for about 10 months now on the same set of batteries, while the expensive one I bought at the same time stopped working after two. Am I just lucky, or has anyone else noticed the cheap ones holding up better than the pricey ones lately?
What brand was the expensive one that died after two months? I ask because I went through something kind of the same with a $50 Black Diamond that crapped out on a camping trip, and when I opened it up the little wire connecting the battery plate had snapped clean off. Also curious if your cheap one has a metal or plastic battery contact, since the plastic ones seem to hold up way longer in my experience. How often were you actually using each one, like once a week or every day?
