Compared hand-cut dovetails vs. using a jig for a dresser last month in Denver
The jig was faster by about 2 hours total, but the hand-cut ones fit tighter with zero gaps on the second try. Has anyone else found the time savings worth the loss in precision on joint quality?

Honestly, wait, zero gaps on the second try? That's insane for hand-cut dovetails, most people need like six tries to get there. I can't believe you'd trade that kind of fit for just two hours, especially on something like a dresser that gets opened every day.

Wait, are you saying you actually use hand-cut dovetails as a daily working joint? I always thought of them as more of a showpiece thing, like something you'd do for a heirloom piece that sits in a corner. Don't they loosen over time with that much opening and closing? I'm genuinely curious, because I've always avoided them on stuff like dressers for that exact reason.
