inThat moment I realized I'd been wiring door locks backwards for months
Oh man that is brutal but honestly I can see how it happens. I always thought polarity didnt matter on those locks since its just a switch closing a circuit but then I ran into a security system that was freaking out because of exactly this. The delay was driving me nuts for weeks before I traced it back. Now I triple check every time even if I think I know what Im doing.

inMy dad told me my emergency fund was too big and I should invest the extra instead
Oh man, yeah that's a smart way to look at it. I mean, I thought I was being clever by splitting mine up too, but I didn't think about the instant access thing. I keep a grand in my regular checking account just for emergencies like a car breakdown or a sudden vet bill, then the rest in a HYSA for stuff like a new roof or a big medical deductible. That way I'm not scrambling to sell investments or wait for a transfer if something real bad happens. It's kinda nice to have that buffer without feeling like I'm missing out on growth completely.

inDropped $80 on a career coaching session and got more value from a free Reddit thread
Did you actually go into that coaching call knowing what you wanted to get out of it though? I think paid advice can be really hit or miss, but a lot of times the problem is people go in expecting the coach to just hand them a job. If you bring specific questions and ask for actionable steps, it works way better than a random free thread. Free forums are great for quick fixes and general tips, but a good coach should be pushing you past your comfort zone and holding you accountable. I've seen plenty of bad advice on Reddit too, stuff that works for one person but totally backfires for someone else. Just saying, don't write off the whole paid thing because of one bad experience.

inSpent 5 years flipping breaker switches before I checked the actual wiring diagram
Amp meter and half hour of patience would've saved you both time.
