Skip the fancy domino jig and cut them by hand? I was wrong about that
I picked up a Hoffman dovetail jig off Marketplace for $180 last month and my drawer boxes went from 2 hours each to about 25 minutes. Everyone on here swore the hand cut look was worth the time, but my customers in Tulsa never noticed the difference and my back sure did. Anyone else make the switch and feel weird about it?
Bought the same jig two years ago and had the exact same guilt. Hand cut drawers for a year because some guy on YouTube said machines leave tearout. My customers in OKC could not tell either. They just want drawers that slide nice and do not cost a fortune. Now I use the jig on everything and save my hand work for stuff people actually see. The weird feeling goes away once you cash a few more checks.
