Thought pocket screws were a shortcut for hacks until a 78 year old guy in Tulsa showed me his shop stool
I always figured pocket screws were what you used when you could not cut a real joint, so I stuck to mortise and tenon for everything, even little face frames. Then a retired cabinetmaker named Ray in Tulsa had me sit on a stool he built 12 years ago with nothing but pocket screws and glue, and that thing did not creak or wobble one bit. So where do you all draw the line, do you use them on anything structural or keep them for shop jigs and cabinets only?
