That $400 crimper from 2008 finally gave up, and I sort of miss it
I bought a cheap hydraulic crimper back when I was running lines in Tulsa, figured it would last a season. Eighteen years later it crushed its last fitting on a Tuesday and the handle just snapped clean off. Replaced it with a new brand X model, but the old one had a rhythm to it, you know. Anyone else hold onto aging tools way past the point where it makes sense?

God, I never used to get it. I was always the guy who bought the cheapest thing that would get the job done and tossed it the second it hiccuped. But that old crimper had this little squeak on the downstroke and a click when it seated, like it was telling me it was done right. New one is smoother and all, but it's got no personality, feels like using a calculator after you spent years on an abacus. Guess I'm just now learning that some tools earn their keep by outlasting your patience for buying another one.
