A barista's 2 cents on tipping reset my whole pricing sheet

One of my regulars, a barista from down the street, said my $6 lattes are undercharging for the neighborhood rent. They showed me their shop's margin math, and it made me redo my menu with a $7 base price. Anyone else get a reality check from someone in the same game?

That barista showing you their margin math sounds like the wake-up call a lot of us need. I read somewhere that cafés often price drinks at three times their cost, so $7 might still be on the low side for your spot.
