Those rotary kits are worth every penny when it's glazed. I just run a poly brush on a drill for the thick stuff, way faster than hand scrubbing.

Been there. Bought a "German steel" set off eBay for $45 and the JIS tips felt soft right out of the box. First camera I touched was an ME Super and the driver cammed out on the film advance screw, took me forever to get it out without gouging the body. Cheap drivers are a false savings when you're billing by the hour, the time lost eats the whole kit price in one job. I went back to Vessel and never looked at the cheap stuff again. If the tip rocks even a little in the slot, that thing is going in the trash, not on a customer's camera.
