A recent repair on a Pentax K1000 changed my view on manual focus fixes
I always avoided manual focus repairs because they appeared too difficult. After working on a Pentax K1000, I found it was quite manageable. The whole thing turned into a really satisfying project. How do you all approach these types of repairs? I'm looking for any good tips or tricks.

Old TV test patterns work well for focus checks. I project them on a wall with a slide projector. Shows even the smallest focus drift. That method got me through a tough Minolta XG-M repair. Sketch the screw layout on paper before you start. Saves a lot of headache later.

I use the Indian Head test pattern for focus checks. Project it at 10 feet with my Kodak Carousel, shows every tiny blur. For screws, sketch the layout and tape them on the paper. Did that with a Nikon FM2, no lost parts.

Oh man, that's so true lol. It's like how I used to be scared to fix anything around the house, thinking I'd break it worse. Then you just dive in and it's not so bad. That feeling of figuring out a tricky fix, it's the best. I bet that old camera feels amazing to use now that you did it yourself.
