Am I the only one who almost fried a customer's Leica because of a bad ground in my bench outlet?
Last Tuesday I had a customer's M6 on the bench for a shutter CLA and smelled something hot near my soldering iron. I grabbed my multimeter and found the outlet ground was reading 40 volts to the chassis, which meant every tool on that bench was live. I shut the breaker off and moved the job to my other bench before touching anything else, then had an electrician out the next morning. Turned out a wire nut in the wall box had worked loose over time. Anyone else had a bench outlet bite them like that, and do you test your ground before every job or just assume it's fine?
