Appreciation post: that shutter fix that dragged on for weeks

Just wrapped up a job where a vintage SLR's shutter curtain needed a tiny spring I had to hunt down online for ages. How do you handle repairs when parts are this slow to find without making clients mad?

No way, you actually spent weeks just hunting for one little spring? I'd lose my mind digging online forever for a single part. What's your secret to keep people from losing it while you search?

Actually, it's not just about digging online forever. The trick is to change your approach often. I use forums, local shops, and even social media groups. Setting daily limits on search time keeps me from burning out. Tracking every lead helps see the big picture. It becomes more about the chase than the one part.

Honestly, all that chasing just wastes time and drives you nuts anyway.
