Question about the environmental cost of lightweight gear.

Saving ounces shouldn't mean trashing the planet.

Totally agree... my old hiking backpack is a great example. The material feels thin but it's been through years of abuse and still looks new. Meanwhile, my old heavy duty bag had thick straps that just cracked and fell apart. Lightweight stuff can really surprise you.

I've had lightweight bags last years because the stitching was done right.
