My attempt to defend a local baker online went completely sideways

I saw a post trying to cancel the owner of my favorite pastry shop over a 10 year old tweet, so I jumped in to say people change. Someone dug up my own cringey MySpace quote from 2007 about hating pop music and said I was a hypocrite. Has anyone else had their own old internet history used against them in a call-out debate?

Got absolutely roasted last year for some dumb forum posts I made about a video game in 2012. I mean, I was like 15 and my whole personality was hating the popular thing. Someone linked it all and I just had to sit there and take it.

Digging up old posts is actually fair game. If you put it online, it's part of your public record. The point is to show a pattern, not just attack one person. Your old quote just proved their argument.

Just own it and laugh at your old self like @the_pat, makes the whole thing lose its power.
