My nephew asked why I still use manual chalk lines over laser levels
I showed him how a laser can wash out in bright sun on a deck job last July, and my old blue chalk line held up fine when nothing else worked. Has anyone else found a tool that the newer fancy version just can't beat in certain conditions?

Nope, you're spot on. Chalk lines are way better for outdoor work when the sun is beating down. Lasers just can't cut it on bright days, they get all washed out and useless. Plus, maybe it's just me, but I like the physical snap of the string and the cloud of chalk. It feels more real, you know? I keep my laser for indoor finishes only.

Don't you find old school tools just work better when things get rough?
