The ceiling fans at the Dallas courthouse changed my mind on public shaming

I sat through a two hour jury orientation and watched everyone stare at their phones during a heated debate about a local councilman's old tweets, and nobody actually listened. That's when it hit me that cancel culture works best in small rooms with real consequences, not as a national spectacle, so now I'm way more careful about which bandwagons I climb on. Has anyone else had a boring public setting flip their take on this?
