Vent: Tried to get a straight answer on why a YouTuber got canceled and it took me 6 hours
Last month my coworker in Phoenix told me this fishing YouTuber I watch got canceled and when I asked why, she just said 'look it up' so I figured it would take me 10 minutes. Six hours later I had watched 4 apology videos, read 3 different timelines that all blamed a different person, and one clip from a livestream where he said something about a sponsor deal that nobody could agree on. Does anyone here have a rule for figuring out what a cancellation was even about without losing a whole Saturday to it?
My cousin in Tampa pulled the same thing on me with that Minecraft guy who got dropped by his sponsor last spring. I spent 5 hours bouncing between Reddit threads, a Twitter apology that got deleted, and a YouTube breakdown that was itself an hour and 40 minutes. Every source said it started with something different: one said it was a joke in a 2021 stream, another said it was the Discord messages, a third blamed his manager. I finally found a random comment with 12 likes that summed the whole thing up in two sentences. My new rule is find the oldest thread on the topic and sort by controversial, that is where the real story hides. How long did it take before you just gave up and asked your coworker again?
