Am I the only one who thinks a 4 month old apology video does not count if you never named what you did
I watched this guy on YouTube who got caught lying about a charity stream last fall. His apology went up 4 months later and ran 22 minutes, and he said sorry to everyone he let down but never once said what the lie was. I rewatched it twice to make sure and he says the words I messed up about 9 times without ever saying what he messed up. My buddy says give him a second chance since time passed, but time passing is not the same as owning it. So what is the rule here, does a long enough wait plus a vague sorry equal forgiven, or do you need the actual confession first?
The "I messed up 9 times without saying what I messed up" thing is exactly what gets me. I read a piece a while back about how a real apology has to name the harm, otherwise it's just words that sound like sorry. Nobody has to earn a second chance by waiting, they earn it by saying the actual thing out loud.
