Heard a podcast host trash a revival pitch and it got me fired up

I was listening to a TV talk show last Tuesday and the host said reviving a show with a cult following is always a money grab. That rubbed me wrong because I still watch the 2016 sci-fi series that got axed after one season on Syfy. The fan letters and online petitions didn't matter, but the cast has all said they'd come back for $1 each. Why do networks ignore the built-in audience that's literally begging for 12 more episodes? Has anyone else heard a hot take like that and just wanted to argue with the radio?

Dig into that podcast's actual argument though, like what did the host say a revival should look like if it wasn't just about money? Because "cult following" usually means small but loud, and networks care about numbers, not noise, so what's the real metric that would change their minds?
