Still mad about Santa Clarita Diet, found out it almost got saved

I was looking through old Netflix press stuff from 2019 and found out the show was minutes away from a final season deal before a new exec gutted it. I spent like 3 hours reading interviews and tweets from the writers to piece it together. Drew Barrymore even said they had scripts ready and the cast was willing to come back cheap. How does a show with a huge fan push and ready scripts just die like that? Has anyone actually gotten a straight answer from a streaming exec about why they ignore active fan campaigns?
