My uncle swore a $90 bluetooth adapter would fix my 2012 Civic, he was wrong twice
So my uncle who thinks he knows everything about cars told me to just buy one of those cheap OBD2 bluetooth adapters instead of paying $400 to get my check engine light diagnosed. Got it on amazon, plugged it in, and it said oxygen sensor. Swapped that out for $120, light came back 3 days later. Uncle said battery reset needed, did that, still on. Finally took it to a shop in Tampa and it was a vacuum leak the whole time. That adapter sits in my glovebox now. Anyone else get burned by cheap diagnostic shortcuts?

Ever notice those cheap adapters only spit out generic codes that point at parts instead of the actual problem, like they're designed to make you waste money on sensors first? Kind of makes you wonder if the real shortcut was learning to check for cracked hoses before touching a wrench, huh?
