I finally took the risk on a commission-only sales job
For about six months, I was stuck between a steady office job with a small salary and a full commission real estate role. The safe choice paid $45,000 a year, but the other had no base pay at all, just a bigger cut on each sale. I picked the commission job three months ago. The first month was rough, I made maybe $800. But I stuck with my plan, called every lead twice, and just closed my third deal this week. It's not a fortune, but it's more than I would have made at the old job in the same time. I'm starting to think the scary choice was the right one. Has anyone else made a similar switch from salary to commission and lived to tell the tale?

Honestly, it's just a job change. People switch careers all the time. You went from one type of pay to another. It's not like you moved to a war zone. Three months in and one good week doesn't mean the risk is over. What if you hit a dry spell for six months? That's the real test.

Wait, did you just compare a career change to moving to a war zone? That's a WILD jump. People stress about money and stability all the time without needing battlefield comparisons. A dry spell is scary, but calling it a war zone is just too much.

My buddy's freelance gig dried up for eight months straight.
