My biggest client ghosted me right after I turned down a new job offer

Last Thursday, I told a local contractor I wouldn't be taking his full-time installer position because I wanted to keep my own business going. That same afternoon, my main client, who I've done 12 jobs for, stopped answering my calls and emails about a $5,000 flooring project we had scheduled. I've sent three follow-ups and even drove by the site, but nothing. Has anyone else had a client disappear after making a career choice like that? How do you handle the financial hit?

Seems like a weird coincidence, but maybe they just got busy. Give it another week before you panic about the money.
