Shoutout to the old-timer who taught me about seam tape on a cold February job

I was working a basement rec room in Denver a few years back, maybe 2019. This guy, must have been 70, watched me struggle with a seam that kept lifting. He just walked over, handed me a heat gun, and said 'warm it up slow, son, not hot'. I never thought about it before that day, but he was right. Has anyone else picked up a simple trick from a seasoned installer that just stuck with you?

Warm it up slow, not hot" - I heard that's the secret to patching old vinyl too.

Yo, @miamitchell you nailed it with the vinyl patch thing! Same principle, slow heat keeps the material from shrinking too fast. That old timer really knew his stuff.
