Thought kickers were a crutch until a guy in Toledo handed me one on a stair job
I always figured kickers were for guys who couldn't stretch a carpet tight, so I never used one in 6 years. Then last month on a 14 step stair job in Toledo, an older installer named Ray watched me fight a wrinkle at the top landing for 20 minutes and just handed me his kicker without a word. He said 'your knee's gonna quit before that carpet does' and honestly he was right, I got it locked in 2 minutes. Now I keep one on the truck for stairs and tight halls. Anybody else come around on a tool they used to look down on?
