I stopped pouring milk first and started layering it like a parfait, and it fixed my soggy cereal problem
Everyone I know swears that putting milk in the bowl before the cereal is the only way to keep it crunchy, but I tried that for two straight weeks and my cornflakes still turned to mush by the fifth spoon. So I did something different. I started doing a layer of cereal, then a thin splash of milk, then another layer of cereal, then more milk on top, like I was building a tiny breakfast lasagna in my bowl. I know that sounds like way too much work for 7 in the morning, but hear me out. The top layer stays dry and crunchy while the bottom soaks up just enough milk to get soft without turning into paste. My roommate watched me do this at our apartment in Columbus and said it looked insane, but then he tried it and now he does it too. The ratio I use is about a half cup of cereal per splash, and I go three layers total. Has anyone else tried stacking or layering their bowl like this, or am I just making breakfast way harder than it needs to be?
