I drove 2 hours to the H-Mart in Plano instead of my local grocery and I don't think I can go back
I always thought the H-Mart run was a hassle, so for a long time I just bought everything at the Tom Thumb near my place in Fort Worth. Last Saturday I finally made the drive up to Plano with my sister so we could stock up for a Korean BBQ night she was planning. The meat alone was night and day, better cuts, way fresher banchan, and the produce was actually cheaper than what I'd been paying at home. I keep telling myself the shorter trip is more practical, but the food really was that much better. Has anyone else found a store that's worth the extra drive, or am I just being stubborn about convenience?
Honestly I do the same thing with a Mexican market about 45 minutes away instead of the Kroger down the street. The meat counter alone makes it worth it, and the produce lasts way longer than what I get locally. Tbh once you taste the difference it's hard to talk yourself out of it just to save some gas. What helped me was going every other week and making a whole day of it so it doesn't feel like a chore. Weekend trips like that turn into something you actually look forward to.
