Just found out the canned beans at my Aldi cost 65 cents and I was paying $1.79 at Kroger
I always dumped on store brand food because my mom raised me on name brand everything, but last Saturday my buddy Marco made chili with Aldi black beans and I seriously could not tell the difference in a blind bite test we did with 4 bowls. Turns out the beans are packed by the same co-packer that does a big national brand, I looked it up on a food blog called The Budget Bite and they listed the plant in Fremont, Nebraska. That is a dollar saved every single can and we go through like 6 cans a month. Has anyone else checked the back of their normal brand and found the same facility listed?
Did you actually flip the can over and read the plant info yourself? I started doing that at our Walmart after my sister swore the green beans tasted the same and sure enough, same town listed on both cans. Now I just grab whatever is cheapest and put the extra cash toward the good coffee.
