The $5 gas station breakfast burrito beats my fancier taco shop order every time
Last month I stopped at a Shell station outside of Waco for gas. Saw a burrito sitting under a heat lamp with a sign saying 5 dollars. I figured why not, expected a sad tortilla with rubber eggs. It had sausage, potato, cheese, and a decent green salsa inside. I ate it in the parking lot and honestly it was better than the 9 dollar breakfast tacos I get from the place downtown that always has a line.
I went back twice that week and tried the other ones too. The bean and bacon one was solid, but the sausage one is the winner. I told my buddy about it and he called me crazy. Says he wont trust gas station food unless its fried or wrapped in plastic. But I think the whole thing about dodgy gas station food is outdated. This spot clearly makes them fresh in the morning.
Has anyone else found a random gas station or convenience store item that beats a real restaurant version? Or am I the only one who thinks the heat lamp gamble can pay off?
