Wasted $9 on a gas station roller dog and chili at a Buc-ee's in Temple, TX, and I want my money back
Everyone acts like Buc-ee's food is some kind of miracle. It is not. I stopped at the one in Temple last month on a drive to Austin. Grabbed a roller dog and a cup of chili. Nine bucks total with a drink.
Chili was lukewarm. The dog had been sitting there so long the casing was tough as a pencil. Bun was dry on one side, soggy on the other.
I could have got a real hot dog and chips at the Valero down the road for five. Or held out 20 more minutes and ate for the same price at a taqueria with actual flavor.
I get the hype for the clean bathrooms. I do. But the food is mid and the price is not cheap eats. It is cheap eats cosplay.
What gas station in Texas is actually worth the stop for food? Not the store. The food.
