That cheap bench scraper I ignored for 6 months is now my favorite tool

I spent $40 on a fancy offset spatula for plating but the $6 plastic bench scraper from the dollar store does a better job smoothing cake tops and moving chopped veg, so has anyone else found the low cost version actually outworks the name brand one?
