Hold up, your FIRST proper risotto? What were you eating before, instant packets? That's like a basic life skill.

Jesus, @the_jenny, instant risotto packets are straight up glue. The real stuff is a totally different meal, you have to stand there and stir forever just to get that creamy texture right. I can't believe anyone settles for that powdered junk.

Confess I used to think that orange powder risotto was fine until I tried making it from scratch. Stirred so long my arm almost fell off but it was worth it. My first few attempts looked like sad wet rice though, not gonna lie. Felt like I was conducting a glue experiment instead of cooking dinner.
