Reflecting on the quiet victory of our town's bike lane expansion

Ten years ago, proposing bike lanes here would have been laughed at, but after a persistent campaign, we now have a network that cuts car trips significantly. I remember the debates and skepticism, but now seeing families cycling safely feels like a tangible step. It's not just about emissions; it's about reclaiming public space for people, lol.

Totally feel that. The pushback we got in my neighborhood was insane, like people thought it would cause traffic nightmares. But now, seeing kids ride to school without worrying about cars, it's a game changer. It took years of town halls and petitions, but the data shows car trips dropped by like 15% in the first year alone. And you're right, it's about more than just bikes, it's about who gets to use the streets.

Who knew I'd become a bike lane convert?
