That one Tuesday when the air in my city actually felt clean
I live in a city that sits in a valley, so we get these nasty inversions where the smog just parks itself for weeks. Back in January there was a 12-day stretch where you could barely see the mountains, and my chest hurt just walking to the corner store. Then a front pushed through overnight and that Tuesday morning was unreal. I walked out at 6:30am and the air smelled like nothing, just cold and clean, and you could see the whole Wasatch range sharp as a photo. I ended up walking an extra mile on my route just because it felt so good to breathe. It hit me that this is what the air is supposed to be like all the time, and we just accept the bad stuff because it creeps in slowly. It made me want to actually show up to the city council meeting about the idling rules next month. Does anyone here actually go to those local meetings, and do they make any real difference or is it just yelling into the wind?
