Vent: spent 6 hours trying to figure out why my compost bin smelled like death
I thought I was doing everything right with my kitchen scraps but the smell got so bad my neighbor asked if something died in my yard. Turns out I was putting in way too many coffee grounds from my 3 cups a day habit and not enough dry leaves, so the whole thing went anaerobic. Fixed it in 20 minutes once I figured it out by adding shredded cardboard and turning it twice. What ratio of greens to browns do you all actually use? I keep seeing different numbers.

Did you know cardboard counts as browns and coffee grounds are greens?
