Showerthought: I used to think running coolant at full blast was the only way to keep tools cool.

Had a job last week on a 4140 steel part where I was burning through inserts like crazy. My boss, who's been doing this since the 90s, walked over and just turned the coolant flow down to about 60%. He said 'You're washing away the heat transfer, not helping it.' The tool life on the next piece was triple what I was getting. Totally flipped my thinking. Anyone else have a coolant flow trick that goes against the usual 'more is better' idea?

Ever notice how less is more with everything?

It's a principle that shows up in good design, clear writing, and even peaceful weekends. When you strip away the extra stuff, what's left has room to breathe and actually be seen. My own life got a lot calmer when I stopped trying to fill every single minute.
