I spent $80 on a coding bootcamp video set that was just a guy reading a free guide

It was a six hour course on web basics I found online last month. The guy just read from the Mozilla Developer Network pages out loud, word for word, for the whole thing. I could have just read the free docs myself. Has anyone else been burned by a bad video course and found a good one instead?

I bought a $60 Python course that was just slides from 2012. Why do people even make these?

What a total waste, that's so frustrating. Did you at least get a refund from the site you bought it from? I've had way better luck just sticking to free YouTube tutorials from actual working developers.

You mentioned getting a refund from the site, but that's not really how it works with most online courses. They almost always have a strict no-refund policy after you start the videos. I learned that the hard way a couple years ago. The real issue is the course quality just varies so much, even on the big platforms. Some are great, but a lot are outdated or taught by people who aren't actually developers. Free stuff can be hit or miss too, but at least you're not out any money.
