My buddy told me to skip error handling and I lost 3 days of work
A friend of mine who's been coding for years said I was overthinking things and just focus on the main logic first. He claimed adding try-catch blocks early would slow me down. I took his advice on a small web scraper project I was building in Python. Well, the script ran fine for 2 hours then hit a weird API timeout and wiped out all my scraped data. Now I have to re-run everything and probably add logging too. Has anyone else gotten bad advice from experienced coders that backfired?

Focus on the main logic first" - said every dev who's never had to re-run a 2 hour script.

Switched to checkpointing every 10 minutes and that saved my sanity lmao. Makes it way easier to catch where things break too.
