That friend who said 'just learn Python first' was totally wrong for me

My buddy Dave kept telling me to start with Python because it's 'the easiest' and 'everyone uses it.' But I spent 3 weeks staring at tutorials and nothing clicked. Then I tried making a simple HTML page for my garage sale flyers and suddenly programming made sense. Now I'm learning JavaScript and actually building stuff. Has anyone else had someone push Python on them when it just wasn't the right fit?

Python cult is real. Dave probably learned it in a bootcamp and thinks it's the only hammer in the toolbox. Told my buddy to start with Scratch blocks and he said "that's for kids." Meanwhile he's still watching Python tutorials on YouTube three years later. HTML/CSS is basically painting with code. Way more fun.

My buddy who teaches game design to middle schoolers says Scratch actually teaches better logic than Python because kids have to think about sprites and events instead of just memorizing print statements. Bet Dave's YouTube tutorials never mention that.
