A guy at my shop said he only reads comics for the covers now and I can't get it out of my head
I was bagging and boarding some back issues at the shop on Saturday and this regular named Dave said something that stuck with me. He said he's bought maybe 40 single issues this year and read 6 of them. The rest he flips through once, checks the variant, and files them away.
At first I thought that was just a collecting thing, but he said he actually likes it that way. The cover art is the part he cares about, and the story is almost a bonus he doesn't always get to.
I looked at my own pull list after that and realized I've done the same thing with about half of it. I'm not sure if that's a me problem or if it says something about how comics get made and sold now.
Curious if anyone else here buys more than they actually read, or if I'm just doing it wrong.
