Hot take: People keep saying comic fans only like superhero stuff
I was at a small con in Austin last month and heard this from three different people. They think we only read Marvel and DC capes and cowls. But the indie and graphic novel sections were packed. I know because I spent over two hours there and talked to a dozen people about books like 'Monstress' and 'Saga'. How do we fix this idea that our hobby is just one genre?

Honestly that "only superhero stuff" idea is so off base. The indie section at my local shop is always the busiest spot, full of people reading all kinds of stories. We just gotta keep showing up for the other stuff and talking about it.

Oh wow, that's a solid point from @the_wesley. I kinda used to think that too, but seeing how packed the indie shelves are really changed my mind.

Wait, your indie section is the busiest spot? What kind of magical comic shop do you go to? Every shop I've been in, it's a ghost town over by the indie books while everyone crowds around the new Marvel and DC shelves. Are people actually buying that stuff or just looking? I see folks flip through a graphic novel, put it back, and then walk to the wall of superhero titles.
